Moose Hunting Around Lac Seul

Moose hunting is excellent in Northwestern Ontario. Farther south Whitetail Deer populations are on the rise and pushing the Moose population north to the shores of Lac Seul.

Moose hunting from a houseboat is a unique experience. You can comb the shore and see all kinds of well-used Moose paths coming down to the lake. You just need to hike up the Moose paths or you can stake out where a path reaches the water and wait for the moose to come down for it's daily drink.

You are not limited to paths. You can quietly comb the shoreline in a smaller boat until you have a sighting. Then you can hide the houseboat around the corner and hunt just a few hundred yards from your warm and cozy floating lodge.

This year we have only been issued one non-resident Bull Moose rifle tag and unlimited calf tags. With six month's notice or more, we can sometimes convert the rifle tag into two archery tags. That's up to the MNR. Hunts take place in WMU 4. Residents with their own tags are welcome to rent our houseboats for their hunt.
