Goose & Duck Hunting on Lac Seul

Lac Seul is within the Mississippi Flyway. Millions of ducks and geese fly south after spending the spring and summer hatching young and feeding on the fertile Arctic Tundra. Lac Seul is one of the many lakes they stop at to rest and feed. They seem to congregate towards the middle of the lake where they feel more protected among the hundreds of islands.

Blue and Green Wing Teal, Black Ducks, Mallards, Gadwall, Widgeons, Bluebills, Pintails, Greater Canada's, Buffleheads, Wood Ducks, Ringbills and Goldeneyes are the most common species of ducks.

Canada Goose is very common and occasionally Lesser Snow Goose and Ross's Goose are seen. They are rare this far east.

There are lots of secluded places to build a blind. What's getting popular are the rain-proof portable blinds that cover your boat. You can get them at hunting stores for around $60.

Fall is a magical time on Lac Seul and a great time for a fishing / hunting combo trip. In the fall, the big trophy female Walleyes come out of the deep summer holes and once again hunt in the cool water along the shore. Muskie are in their fall feeding frenzy.
